Book Review: You Are a Badass – Jen Sincero

Welcome to my first book review here on this blog. I have to say, it feels soooo good to get back into reading. Once upon a time, before I had kids (and had all the time in the world), I would read approximately one book a week – usually ‘Chick Lit’, True Crime or Trashy Novels. Argh! The good old days!

These days, my time is very precious… so when I do ‘read’, it’s usually some sort of personal development book. It’s taken me a while to get into self-help style books – which is probably why I never used to finish any I started. But I’m well aware that I am a work in progress that needs continual improvement – but that’s a story for another day.

One of the recent books I read – well listened to #iloveaudible – was Jen Sincero’s You are a Badass: How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life.
I’d seen plenty of entrepeneurs and law of attraction guru’s post about this book on their Facebook/Instgram, so it had been sitting on my list of books to read for a while.

Firstly, I love that it is narrated by Jen herself. She’s sassy, a realist and makes you feel like it’s your best friend giving you a much-needed stern talking to. I often miss the physicality of reading an actual book – but in this case, I would highly recommend the audio book. Jen’s passion for what she is preaching comes out in every word she says.

The book itself was so timely for me…I’m trying to grow my side hustle, passion project… so it was perfect timing to be reminded of the law of attraction, mindfullness and the power of being grateful.
It’s a  bit of woo woo self help book, written (and spoken) by a highly educated but sometimes potty mouth badass. Which, in my opinon, if the perfect mix for personal development that will hit the spot!
